{"id":307,"date":"2013-03-11T18:20:04","date_gmt":"2013-03-11T17:20:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.studentenbridgeleiden.nl?page_id=307"},"modified":"2024-05-08T18:23:31","modified_gmt":"2024-05-08T16:23:31","slug":"cursussen","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.studentenbridgeleiden.nl\/en\/cursussen","title":{"rendered":"Courses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>All courses are given on Monday evenings at the Nobel, by the windmill close to Leiden Central Station. <a href=\"https:\/\/nobel.nl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Nobel<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The kick-start course.<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>This consists of 3 lessons and a final tournament.<br \/>In this course you will learn:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>how the game of bridge works,<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>how the bidding works,<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>how the playing and counterplaying works.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The main goal of the kick-start course is to give the participants three enjoyable evenings in which you can discover whether you like to play bridge. Each evening starts with a short explanation and then an hour or two of playing. You will receive course material by email after each explanation. In it you can read everything and do some self-tests. This takes about half an hour a week.<br \/>The next course starts in September, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.studentenbridgeleiden.nl\/en\/inschrijven\/\">register now<\/a>!<\/p>\r\n<p>You can also register for the kickstart course as a group. You must have at least 8 and a maximum of 16 people. Registration is possible. <a href=\"http:\/\/&lt;p class=&quot;wpcf7-contact-form-not-found&quot;&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Error:&lt;\/strong&gt; Contact form not found.&lt;\/p&gt;\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Kicking Together<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"680\" class=\"wp-image-774\" src=\"http:\/\/www.studentenbridgeleiden.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/DSC3751-1024x680.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>If you discover in the kick-start course that bridge is great fun and challenging, then <em>'Kicking Together'<\/em> a great follow up.<br \/><br \/>An essential characteristic of bridge is that it is a mind sport in which you play together with a partner. In <em>'kicking Together' <\/em>you play a competition at bridge club PAS with an experienced bridge player. If your pace of play is fast enough and if you've already found a bridge partner in the kick-start course, that's fine too.<br \/><br \/>As a participant you will receive a free annual subscription to the <a href=\"https:\/\/bid72.com\/\">Bid72<\/a> With this, you can practice bidding together with your partner and with experienced players from Studentenbridge Leiden. The experts will give you feedback in the app's chat, helping you improve your bidding quickly.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bridge Competition<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>After the course <em>'Kicking Together'<\/em> you are able to play at a club. In Leiden, the PAS bridge club <a href=\"https:\/\/9029.bridge.nl\/\">Bridge Club Pass<\/a> is the most obvious choice. PAS originated 35 years ago within the student association Augustinus. Now both former students and students play at the club.<br \/><br \/>PAS plays on Monday evenings in the pop stage de Nobel. PAS offers students of Studentenbridge Leiden a free membership for the first year. <a href=\"https:\/\/nobel.nl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Nobel<\/a>. PAS offers Studentenbridge Leiden students a free membership for their first year.<br \/><br \/>The course consists of half an hour of lessons and then playing along at the PAS club night. Classes are from 7-7.30 pm, followed by club evenings from 7.45-11 pm. At least the card part: continuing play together with a drink is a not unusual ending to the evening for a number of members.<br \/><br \/>Normally this Kicking Together course runs throughout the year and consists of short lessons in which a different aspect of the game is discussed each time. The lessons can be taken separately. So if you are not able to attend or if you already know the lesson material, you can skip a lesson without a problem.<br \/><br \/>Those who are really interested in competition bridge can qualify for the Dutch team for young people under 26. You can read what Leiden students have achieved in recent years on the site <a href=\"http:\/\/www.studentenbridgeleiden.nl\/en\/leidse-jonge-topspelers\/\">about our young Leiden top players.<\/a>. This is how Sibrand van Oosten \u2013 after winning the Open World Championship for Pairs in October 2022 \u2013\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mareonline.nl\/studentenleven\/sibrand-stopte-met-studeren-om-professioneel-te-gaan-bridgen-nu-is-hij-wereldkampioen\/\">and finishing second in the Teams \u2013<\/a> became junior world champion with the Dutch team in August 2023.
